- We at Isom's
strongly recommend flushing your brake fluid annually. This important
maintenance service should be performed because your brake fluid is
hygroscopic, meaning the brake fluid absorbs water ( moisture ) from
the air. This moisture not only lowers the fluids boiling point, leading
to a spongy brake pedal on frequent or long hard stops, but if unchecked
will lead to expensive corrosion damage to all the systems metal parts.

- Each 50,000 miles is timing belt replacement
time if your BMW or Audi is so equipped. If not accomplished you run
the risk of bending the valves, possible breaking the cylinder head
if the timing belt breaks. That can cost more than $2,000!

- Early Audi V-6s owners should be aware
of a design flaw. If the water pump on these engines begins to seep
or leak coolant, it runs right onto the timing belt idler ruining
the bearing. When this pulley seizes, the belt breaks with the potentional
of bent valves and repair costs.

Traveling
With Your Car
Preparing
your car for travel is very important. Make sure your car is ready
for the trip by checking all vital fluids such as the oil and coolant,
and by visually inspecting your car for anything that looks out of
place. It is always a good idea to double-check the coolant hoses
and all belts on your car. Failures of these items are among the most
common reasons that cars break down, but fortunately, they are inexpensive
to replace.
Also, check your car's battery for signs of corrosion or cracks. If
the battery is the "self-diagnosing" type with an indicator,
make sure it is fully charged. An older, weak battery may fail without
much warning. If your battery has cracks, the fluid could leak from
one or more cells, rendering it too weak to start your car.
